The all-new GLE.

With the new optional E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL fully active air suspension we are pooling our most innovative and intelligent suspension technologies to create a mesmerising driving experience.

In "Curve" mode, the vehicle can actively lean into a bend. This minimises the transverse force and tangibly increases comfort and dynamism. In "Comfort" mode, the ROAD SURFACE SCAN with stereo camera scans the road ahead of the vehicle. The suspension struts are then activated so as to substantially reduce the body movements when driving over bumps in the road. There are two other modes to choose from: "Sport" and "Offroad".

With new engines, the GLE's acceleration is more powerful and efficient than ever.

The new, systematically electrified engines feature turbocharging as well as an integrated starter/alternator, an additional electrical compressor and a 48‑volt on-board electrical system. The integrated EQ Boost electric motor assists the combustion engine when accelerating, for example, with an additional output of up to 16 kW (22 hp) and 250 Nm of torque, enables driving without the internal combustion engine ("Sailing") and supplies the 48-volt on-board electrical system with energy by means of highly efficient recuperation.

In addition to this, all engine are paired with the 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission and 4MATIC all-wheel drive.

To ensure reliable start-off, even on slippery surfaces, the system permanently distributes the drive torque between the front and rear axle. Even oversteer and understeer when cornering at speed are reduced.

The 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive with the 4ETS Electronic Traction System ensures outstanding off-road capability and optimum traction on loose surfaces, snow or slush. To tangibly enhance dynamic handling, the system in the new GLE can for the first time distribute the drive power variably between the front and rear axle, depending on model. Precise oversteer or understeer makes the vehicle more agile when cornering.
