Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC
The radar-based Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC adaptive cruise control automatically maintains the distance between the vehicle and vehicles in front and can take the strain off the driver, for example, on motorways or in stop-start traffic. Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC automatically accelerates and brakes the vehicle with a maximum of half the vehicle's brake output to maintain a safe distance. If the system identifies that drivers must brake more strongly, it outputs an interval warning sound and a warning icon lights up in the instrument cluster.
The Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC can be activated from a speed of 20 km/h by pressing the cruise control lever. The system operates in the speed range from 0 to 200 km/h. By nudging the accelerator or pulling on the cruise control lever the vehicle speeds up again and, if the traffic situation permits, accelerates automatically up to the set speed.
