Heritage
One Ambition: In 1967, a unique company was born out of an overwhelming passion for motorsport and technology. A for Aufrecht, M for Melcher and G for Großaspach. Together, they optimised the performance of engines and became involved in motorsport – and turned two-man operation later into a global brand under the umbrella of Mercedes-Benz. The first sporting milestone was the 24-hour race in Spa in 1971 - the sensation was perfect and the name AMG went around the world.
Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed
00:00 to 00:02
The camera is positioned a few meters above a road and continues to move
forward along the road. At the same time, we hear a sporty engine noise, but
see no vehicle.
Then, a dark red front end moves into view, shortly afterward, and we see
the long hood of a Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed in large format, shot from an
angled view from above on the driver's side. On the side of the fender
between the front wheel and the driver's door is a striking white
"10," reserved for the optional Motorsport Styling package and
reminiscent of the starting number of the Mercedes-Benz winning car at the
Sicilian Targa Florio 100 years ago.
00:03 to 00:05
Scene change: The camera follows the moving vehicle and focuses on a
section of the rear end. The left taillight is fully visible, as is the trunk
lid and the two scoops protruding further forward behind the front seats. The
rear end is painted in graphite grey.
The Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed is traveling along a coastal road. Beige rocks
fly by on the right, while the camera slowly pans to the left. Wide
guardrails are visible to the left of the vehicle, with the sea just a hint
of light behind them. Ahead of the vehicle is a sharp right-hand bend in the
morning sun.
In this and all subsequent driving scenes, the typical AMG V8 sound is
acoustically present, which can be experienced even more directly in the
Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed.
00:05 to 00:07
The camera is still focused on the rear end. The Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed
takes a sharp right-hand bend past a wide rock, and a smaller, light-colored
rock immediately follows the road on the left.
00:07 to 00:08
The next shot shows a kind of panoramic view. The Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed
cruises along a coastal road brightly lit by the morning sun, shot diagonally
from the rear, on the driver's side.
The camera is positioned in the left lane to overtake, clearly showing the
striking paint scheme, with a color gradient from graphite grey at the rear
to Le Mans red at the front, featuring a black AMG pattern. The paint scheme
is part of the optional Motorsport Styling package and is reminiscent of the
red paint scheme of the winning car at the Targa Florio 100 years ago.
Furthermore, the radical design concept, without a roof or windshield, is
striking; the driver is wearing one of the two standard-fit special
protective helmets in the car's color.
00:09 to 00:11
Another scene change: The camera now flies along the road in front of the
Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed at a low altitude, filming the vehicle from above as
it drives.
00:11 to 00:15
Another change of perspective initially shows the vehicle diagonally from
the front on the driver's side while driving in the backlight. It then slowly
moves past the camera from right to left.
00:15 to 00:19
For the next few seconds, the camera flies ahead of the Mercedes-AMG
PureSpeed at a low altitude, filming it diagonally from the driver's side as
it speeds through the curves against a panorama of rocks and the sea. The
road is bordered by a massive guardrail towards the sea, while on the right
side, a beige rock wall frames the action.
00:20 to 00:22
This side shot of the front of the car on the driver's side focuses on the
53.3 cm (21-inch) AMG light-alloy forged wheels with their special design,
inspired by the carbon fiber panels on the front and rear axles.
00:22 to 00:24
The driver changes gears using the shift paddles on the steering
wheel.
00:24 to 00:28
The camera is positioned just above the road surface after a bend framed by
rocks on both sides. The backlit view returns to the bend, from which the
Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed is just emerging, approaching very quickly, while the
camera continues to move a little ahead. At the end, the PureSpeed overtakes
the camera after a powerful burst of acceleration, which is also acoustically
intense.
00:29 to 00:30
The driver changes the drive mode from "C" to "S+"
using the rotary switch next to the steering wheel.
00:31 to 00:34
The camera moves a considerable distance ahead of the Mercedes-AMG
PureSpeed in the same lane. On the left, in the field of view, directly next
to the road, we see a bright rock face running its entire length, continuing
even after a bend. The PureSpeed accelerates very quickly, emitting an
intense sound, right up to the camera. The driver then releases the
accelerator, and we hear the animated misfires.
00:34 to 00:38
A side view of the driver's surroundings while driving: We see the driver
wearing a matching helmet, the starting number 10 on the side, the
transparent deflectors in front of the cockpit, and the sturdy tubular steel
bar of the HALO system above the interior. The rock face's structures fly by
on the side.
00:38 to 00:40
The camera perspective jumps back and shows the vehicle as it travels from
the driver's side, where the color gradient of the paintwork is clearly
visible. The camera then rotates until it's pointing directly at the
rear.
00:41 to 00:42
The journey continues, and the camera perspective is now momentarily just
above the road surface, directly in front of the particularly low-slung front
end with the bright "AMG" lettering.
00:43 to 00:44
The camera initially maintains the same perspective, but moves slightly
away from the vehicle, making the road and surroundings more visible. The
PureSpeed then overtakes the camera.
00:45 to 00:50
The camera angle jumps back again, showing the PureSpeed diagonally from
the rear on the driver's side, then turns to face the rear, before climbing
back up and overtaking the vehicle from above. The AMG pattern can be seen
above the color gradient at the rear, as well as the two black scoops behind
the seats with the "AMG" logo, beneath which rigid roll bars are
concealed.
00:51 to 00:56
The camera is positioned diagonally in front of the driver's seat while
driving, focusing on the sturdy bar of the HALO system above the interior.
This fork-shaped bar is firmly attached to the body shell structure and
protects both passengers equally.
00:56 to 00:59
The final view shows a section of the image from the front wheel to the
driver's door while driving, shot from below. The vehicle slows down, and you
can hear the driver ease off the accelerator. The video ends.
